Course Information
This instructor led course covers safety procedures to be followed while making excavation. Upon completion of this module, the learner:
- Will have a general understanding of the regulations governing excavation safety.
- Will understand many of the specific terms and their definitions in relation to excavations.
- Will understand the conditions and forces that can act upon soil to create the potential for dangerous cave-ins.
- Will become familiar with the four basic soil types, including visual and manual tests to determine them, and how they relate to excavation safety.
- Will become familiar with methods used to protect an excavation, including shoring, shielding, and sloping.
